Yeşilcam Cinema started operating in Beyoğlu in 1998. The cinema, which, as a principle, only shows independent films, has never affiliated with a marketing company and has always worked in a way that suits its principles, selecting which films to bring to the theatres. Today, it is known as the only “Independent Cinema” operating in Türkiye.

Showing short films and documentaries in addition to independent, full-length films, Yeşilçam Cinema has hosted several short film and documentary festivals and a series of director-, artist- or country-themed film weeks. Having been established by the director Reis Çelik, it will now sustain this tradition within the boundaries of İstanbul AKM.
