Osman II, the young Ottoman Sultan at the time, granted the son of an established Armenian metalsmith family, Avedis, the title “Zilciyan” or “Zildjian” (lit. the son of cymbal smith), as he managed to carry on the family tradition and came up with metal alloy that would mark the birth of Zildjian cymbals in 1623, which has reached out to our day, the 400th anniversary since the establishment of the company. Musician Turgut Alp Bekoğlu will tell us about the journey of these cymbals and the Zildjian brand.
