In 2022, we lost the renowned painter, poet, thinker, and academician Prof. Balkan Naci İslimyeli. However, art enthusiasts will have the chance to reconnect with his brilliance at an exhibition organized at AKM during the Beyoğlu Culture Route Festival. This exhibit, consisting of works and pieces contained in books published by Epsilon Publishing, brings the late artist’s genius back to life.
Throughout his artistic career, Prof. Balkan Naci İslimyeli illuminated the complex world of minds. His insights are reflected in words through his aphorisms in "Thought Stops," and in verses through his poetry collections titled "İstanbul," "Nothing," and "In Passing."
The exhibition, curated by Gülfem Dedeoğlu, will open on September 30th as part of the Beyoğlu Culture Route Festival and will be available to visit until October 15th. This exhibit, which can be considered the shadow of İslimyeli’s literary works, includes selections from Balkan Naci İslimyeli’s "Scissors-Psycholage," "Nothing is Everything," "History of Oddities," and "Dream Pictures" collections.
The launch of the exhibition’s pieces will be held on October 4th at 18:00. A panel, scheduled for October 9th from 16:00 to 18:00, will host esteemed figures who have written prefaces in the books, including Bedri Baykam, Süleyman Saim Tekcan, Prof. Dr. Eva Şarlak, Prof. Dr. Nedret Öztokat Kılıçeri, and Lale Müldür.
