Opera
İstanbul State Opera and Ballet will meet its audience on June 8 at the AKM Theatre Hall with the unconventional narrative concert concept “What Would You Say About Don Giovanni?”, in which various sections of the opera Don Giovanni will be staged.
The opera, Don Giovanni, composed by Mozart, is one of the masterpieces of opera literature. So much so that Richard Wagner declared the opera to be the “highest opera of all operas”. The opera, drafted by the genius librettist Da Ponte, can be regarded as a work in black humour. It tells us about the adventures of the legendary Don Giovanni, a noble Spanish scion renowned for his ability to seduce women. His wealth and prowess protect him from facing the consequences of his actions; however, a day comes and this confidence prompts him to push his limits, making him prey to a murder which will introduce him to his demise…
The analysis of the work and the character will be conferred by Suat Arıkan in the narrative concert “What Would You Say About Don Giovanni?”. The soloists Caner Akgün (Don Giovvanni), Işık Belen (Leporello), Hale Soner Kekeç ( Donna Anna), Barbora Hitay (Donna Elvira), Ufuk Toker (Don Ottavio), Bezmi Hazal Ekşi (Zerlina), Emre Güngör (Masetto), and Göktuğ Alpaşar (Il Commendatore) will be on stage in the accompaniment of the piano by Fügen Yiğitgil. Volkan Akkoç will conduct the choir in the performance.
