A Tribute to Two Legendary Harpists

The festival begins with a captivating evening honoring the legacies of two extraordinary harpists through unique musical narratives. Taking place on January 15, 2025, this special concert will inspire audiences with its unforgettable repertoire. The evening opens with a heartfelt tribute to Ceren Necipoğlu (1973-2009). Her student, Ece Yavaş, will perform her teacher’s final recital program, “Like a Book,” meticulously crafted by Necipoğlu, reviving the emotions and stories embedded in her music. In the second half, the remarkable story of Noor Inayat Khan (1914-1944), an Indian princess and harpist who bravely resisted the Nazi regime, will come to life. World-renowned harpist Florence Sitruk will pay homage to Khan with a repertoire featuring works by her harp mentor Henriette Renie and composition teacher Nadia Boulanger. This meaningful selection takes the audience on a journey through history, highlighting Khan’s powerful legacy.
