The Children's Play "Hayal" by İstanbul State Opera and Ballet
The children's play "Hayal" by İstanbul State Opera and Ballet is based on the saying "Everything starts with a dream." It tells the story of how children's ability to dream beyond their limits can help them achieve their goals and how it can be effective in reaching their goals.
The main character of the play, "Hayal," is able to enter the room she has long dreamed of seeing with a necklace her grandfather gave her for her birthday. Encouraged by her grandfather's surprise for Hayal, she sets off on a journey to her dreams. In her dreams, she befriends famous composers, singers, ballerinas, geniuses, chefs, and conductors. Her fairytale friendship with composers such as Mozart, Minkus, Rossini, Beethoven, and Carl Orff increases her courage. With all the information she has learned, her next dream is to go to a real concert hall, listen to a concert, watch a ballet or opera, and take notes in her notebook that she never lets go of. Her mischievous grandfather, who named her "Hayal," has one more surprise for her...
The play, written and directed by Çağrı Köktekin, will feature artists from İstanbul State Opera and Ballet, the Children's Choir, and the Children's Ballet. On the one hand, the journey between dreams and reality will be presented to the young audience with the accompaniment of opera composers' video-supported games and the interactive participation of the audience on stage.
The play's set design is by Ferhat Karakaya, costume design by Gizem Betil, lighting design by Taner Aydın, choreography by Çiğdem Erkaya Öztürk, and the child choir conductors are Volkan Akkoç and Çağrı Köktekin. The adaptation of the lyrics of the songs in the play was done by Gökçegün Ersoy.
