Duration: 76 Minutes
The story's origin is slightly similar to Orhan Elmas' "Ezo Gelin" (1968) in that, Hazal, the daughter of a poor family in the village, has to yield to the land's traditions now that she has lost her husband. She is married off to the ten-year-old brother of her late husband. Their connection does not go beyond what may be called a mother-and-son relationship. The rest of the story departs from the aforementioned plot of Elmas' film. The gazelle*-eyed Hazal* (Türkan Şoray), who rises against the traditions, elopes with the mason Emin, with whom she is infatuated. Like all the Anatolian women who are cursed with hopeless love, neither will Hazal's destiny change. The lovers will be condemned to death, and the honour of the village shall be protected.
