Playwright William Shakespeare

Dramaturge and Directing Yücel Erten
The play circles around the marriage adventures of the two daughters of Signore Baptista, on one hand the extremely obstinate and unprayable Katherina, “the shrew” of the play, and on the other the dovelike and easy going younger sister, Bianca. Baptista declares that unless the older sister is married he won’t let his little daughter Bianca marry. In order to break this seal, the suitors of Bianca ask aid from Petruchio. Petruchio sets to work with the intention of both inheriting the loaded dowery of Katherina, and also with the claim that he could tame and meeken her. In the meanwhile the suitors of Bianca also try to get close to the young girl, resorting to different methods so as to entice her. Here, Katherina’s stance, digging in her heels against her male dominated surrounding, and the devices set to secure Bianca will a create a unique kind of a whirlpool.
