Disappearing, based on the eponymous play by the promising young Romanian playwright Elise Wilk is a story about hope, despair, sacrifices, love, hate, forgiveness. Decisions taken, people forced to leave their country, broken family relations, all this happening in the context of three time periods - war, revolution, entering in the European Union. Everything begins with a young Romanian couple Kathi and Max, German by origin, madly in love, who are forced to separate in order to save their lives during WW2, when Romanian government changed sides and joins the Allied powers. The Soviet Union forces enter the country and start deporting all ethnic Germans to Siberia. Decades later on the brink of the Christmas Revolution when most of the ethnic Germans left for Germany, a mother is forced by despair to abandon her abusive husband and teenage daughter in the search of better life. Later on as Romania enters in the European Union, members of this broken family meet again at the end of their lives to try to settle their issues.
