The opera "La Bohème," set to meet art lovers at the Atatürk Cultural Centre Türk Telekom Opera Hall, is considered one of the masterpieces of Composer Giacomo Puccini (1858 – 1924). This dramatic and romantic opera, with a libretto written by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, is among the most staged and beloved operas in the world.
Set in Paris of the 1830s, the work tells a touching love story; a group of friends living a Bohemian life support themselves by creating art. The poet Rodolfo falls in love with the seamstress Mimì; the painter Marcello also has a tumultuous relationship with the singer Musetta. Despite everything, both couples try to enjoy life and love when they are happy. However, when Mimì's health is revealed to be very poor, Rodolfo struggles to accept that she will die from this illness. Rodolfo and Mimì separate, and months later, Musetta, realizing Mimì's condition has worsened, brings her to the house where Rodolfo and Marcello live. Rodolfo immediately takes her in and tries his best to restore her health. But it is too late. Right after declaring their love for each other, Mimì succumbs to her illness.
