The work takes the events that occurred during the construction of Mihrimah Sultan and Süleymaniye mosques, great works of art of Turkish history by the Imperial Architect Sinan who lived during the period of Süleiman the Magnificient, and the most resplendent periods of the Ottoman Empire on the stage of the opera. The 7 years of construction phase of the Süleymaniye, the work of mastership of Sinan, the formation of negative opinion on Sinan for the project, the Iranian expedition, and the emergence of Süleymaniye Mosque like the sun are depicted with splendid scenes.
Bertan Rona wrote the libretto of the opera, Sinan, based on Halit Refiğ’s work, “Koca Sinan”. The music of the work is by Hasan Uçarsu, one of the prominent composers of Türkiye. The conductor Zdarvko Lazarov will conduct the İstanbul State Opera and Ballet Orchestra for the work.
