Concert
İstanbul State Opera and Ballet meets with art lovers in the "Stabat Mater" Concert...
Written for strings, basso continuo, and solo voices (soprano and alto) and consisting of 12 parts, the "Stabat Mater" by Italian composer G. B. Pergolesi is a piece built on flowing melodies. It is simple yet equally impressive and memorable, and is very emotional. The perfect harmony of music and lyrics further enhances this effect.
Considered one of the most important works of Italian music in the 18th century, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater has been an inspiration to many composers. Pergolesi began composing this final masterpiece a few months before his death, and the work was first performed in 1736.
İstanbul State Opera and Ballet Baroque Orchestra is conducted by Paolo Villa. The soloists for the concert are Sevim Ateş, Ceren Aydın, Otilia İpek, Aylin Ateş, Ayçin Sürücüer, and E. Tuğba Tekışık.
