Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Ballet Company to Perform
in Istanbul for the First Time

On September 30, 2026, the Ballet Company of the Moscow State Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre will perform in Turkey for the first time. A Gala Concert bringing together contemporary choreography and selected highlights from the Theatre’s ballet repertoire will be presented at the Theatre Hall (Tiyatro Salonu) of the Atatürk Cultural Center in Istanbul.
The first part of the evening will feature In Dim Figures, a one-act ballet choreographed by Maxim Sevagin, Artistic Director of the MAMT Ballet, to music by Antonio Vivaldi. The second part will feature a pas de deux from The Talisman, choreographed by Marius Petipa and revised by Pyotr Gusev; a duet from Yuri Possokhov’s Reflections; a duet from Dmitry Bryantsev’s Illusive Ball; and Pavlova and Cecchetti, a virtuoso pas de deux from Maxim Sevagin’s Class Concert.

About the Ballet Company
The Ballet Company was formed in the 1930s. Vladimir Burmeister, who led the company from 1941 to 1960 and again from 1962 to 1971, played a particularly important role in its history. His productions largely shaped the company’s distinctive performing style, combining technical mastery with strong dramatic expression. Under Burmeister’s leadership, the small ensemble gained widespread international recognition.
Today, the Ballet Company is one of Russia’s leading companies working in contemporary choreography. Its repertoire brings together classical masterpieces, Vladimir Burmeister’s choreographic legacy and works by some of the most prominent choreographers of our time. Over the years, the Theatre has presented works by Jiří Kylián, Yuri Possokhov and Akram Khan other outstanding choreographers. In the 21st century, the Ballet Company has toured extensively across Europe and Asia, as well as in the United States and Latin America.
Maxim Sevagin
Artistic Director of the Ballet Company and one of the youngest ballet company directors in the history of world ballet. He took over the company in 2022 at the age of 24. A graduate of the Vaganova Ballet Academy, he completed his studies with honors in 2015. While still a student, he distinguished himself as a choreographer and became the only student invited to take part in the Mariinsky Theatre’s Creative Workshop for Young Choreographers. After graduating, he joined the Ballet Company of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre, where he soon became a first soloist, combining his performing career with his work as a choreographer. Maxim Sevagin is the creator of the ballets Romeo and Juliet, In dim figures, Class Concert, The Snow Queen, Queens of Variations and other productions. In 2023, he was nominated for the Golden Mask National Theatre Award, and in 2024 for the international Benois de la Danse prize. In the 2025/2026 season, he premiered his new ballet Anna Karenina.
About the Theatre
The Moscow State Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre traces its history back to two opera studios founded in 1918–1919 by the great theatre reformers Konstantin Stanislavsky and Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko. Since 1926, the Theatre has been based in a historic building in the center of Moscow. Today, its repertoire includes around 50 opera and ballet productions. The Theatre’s Opera and Ballet companies are well known internationally and have toured extensively throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America.

Art Seasons is a nonprofit cultural organization and production company that brings both established and emerging Russian artists to audiences in Russia and abroad.
