Concert
Prepared by: Uğur KAYA

Gönül, kalp, and yürek. Three words for “heart” in Turkish. Although they refer to the same idea, when a negator suffix is attached, they become:
Halfhearted, describes the unwilling,
Heartless, the cruel,
Gutless, the fainthearted respectively.
However, as for its inspiration, the most significant for us is the “gönül”.
This is our state of being. It is what makes us talk, what reflects our soul into our tongue. It is that which makes us rejoice and makes us smile, and time to time, that which is crossed with us.
It is love and the one who falls in love; it is saddened and grieves for it cannot unite; it is touchy, therefore, breaks as though it is a glass bottle. It is the Mountain of Gönül where the rain becomes Buran.
It is whom that softens up by the sweetness of the speech, and makes peace, where one’s rejoiced, and spreads the happiness.
It is the “gönül” that shrieks in vain, and sometimes seeks affection and company.
The one that requites the lovers is again the “gönül”. It is the throne to which one steps in. It is The Righteous, and beats for The Righteous. It is the Lover-Bard, the Ashik, the one who knows to unite when it is his time.
The SONGS of The GÖNÜL will be meeting its audience at the Atatürk Cultural Center’s Multipurpose Hall with the performances by Hamdiye Efeoğlu and Gökhan Temur.
