WILL YOU HOLD MY HAND
(LEGACY)

State Folk Dances Ensemble

Children's Art Festival

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, affiliated with the General Directorate of Fine Arts, presents a musical dance play titled "Will You Hold My Hand" featuring the State Folk Dance Ensemble and the participation of the amateur children's folk dance group. In this play, Hacivat and Karagöz reflect colors from the shadow screen with humor-filled perspectives and moral stories, appealing to audiences of all ages, from 7 to 70.

The plot of the play: Karagöz, in search of the legacy left to him, embarks on a journey through Anatolia with Hacivat, where they meet characters such as Nasreddin Hoca, Çelebi, Tuzsuz Deli Bekir, Persian, and Laz. They learn about and experience regional folk dances from Thrace, Zeybek, Kırşehir, Ankara, Burdur, and the Black Sea, as well as the characteristics of these regions. At the end of their journey, Karagöz learns that the true legacy left to them is their culture. The performance ends emphasizing love, sharing, and building bridges of hearts, showcasing that when united, all difficulties can be overcome.

The artistic direction of the work is by Yıldız ÇANKAYA, and the script is written by Murat Yener YILDIRIM and Emre EGEL.
