The rock music legend "Wishbone Ash" is coming to the İstanbul Atatürk Cultural Centre!
Positioned within the delicate space between melodic, energetic hard rock and progressive rock, and recognized as one of the most important groups in rock music history thanks to their enduring and loyal fan base, Wishbone Ash is arriving at the İstanbul Atatürk Cultural Centre. The band's use of twin lead guitars in their compositions and live performances has become a milestone in hard rock/metal, profoundly influencing bands like Metallica, Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and today's prominent groups such as Dream Theater and Opeth. After their performance last year at the CSO Ada Ankara, the group will meet rock enthusiasts at the AKM Türk Telekom Opera Hall on Friday, May 24, 2024.
About Wishbone Ash:
Formed in 1969 by Martin Turner, Andy Powell, and Steve Upton, this English group recorded a series of albums in the early 1970s, each now considered a classic (Wishbone Ash (1970), Pilgrimage (1971), Argus (1972), Wishbone Four (1973). The band, known for its inventive melodic approach and expansive, sprawling compositions with epic-length twin guitar solos, not only created a distinct sound but also gained a lasting following through their energetic performances.
From the 1980s to the 2010s, despite all the changes in style and sound in the rock music world, Wishbone Ash successfully continued their sonic journeys without compromising their characteristic structure, always maintaining a connection with their loyal audience. Their latest studio album "Coat Of Arms," released in 2020, saw a return to their roots and received full marks from all music critics.
Wishbone Ash has signed many works including 25 studio albums, 11 live albums, five DVDs, and the rock documentary "This is Wishbone Ash."
